Today I was designing a new free ebook template in Canva (coming next week!) and I needed to add automated page numbers.

I knew the feature existed in Canva. I've used it before. But where was it? I spent at least 5 minutes searching, clicking around, completely lost. Then I finally found it again.

And I'm guessing you've been there too. You know Canva has it, but you can't for the life of you remember where it is.

So here's the quick step-by-step.

How to add automatic page numbers in Canva:

  1. Open your design.

  2. On the editor side panel, click Text.

  3. Under Dynamic text, select Page numbers.

  4. Under Format, select the dropdown to choose a format for the page numbers. You can choose between Numbers only, Page + number, or Page X of Y.

  5. Under Show numbers on, select the dropdown to choose which pages should have page numbers.

  6. Click Apply properties to all pages.

That's it. Takes 5 seconds once you know where to look.

Check out this quick video to see it in action.

Hope this saves you the 5-minute search! 🤍
